THIS IS THE CUTEST THING EVER I LOVE IT

Aoi and Lamia by Tamura Ryuuhei

This is so cute! I can’t believe its drawn on MS Paint.

I’m sure she’ll turn up eventually, considering this arc is going to be long and serious.

Day 8: Favourite chapter cover/colorpage/volume cover.

Look at our boys looking all nice and badass. Too bad they hardly wear suits.

If Volume 20 had been released by now, that would probably be my favorite cover, though, as I’m sure it’ll feature Oga and Furuichi (what with the Tissues arc and all).

What I really like about drawings of Oga and Furuichi together is that they always visually complement each other:

Furuichi wears his suit with the jacket closed and he’s standing upright. He’s also staring at the viewer.  Oga is fidgeting and already undoing his tie, and his shirt is untucked.  I really like it when characters act like themselves in covers, it makes it more believable.  Of course Tamura doesn’t always do this depending on the kind of cover, but when he does its great.

Day 1: Favorite Running Gag

Furuichi on top of Lamia always caught me by surprise, and it’s hilarious (in my opinion)! The insults that come after is what kills everything. This only happened like what, 5 times?

Not to mention Furuichi gives us the only pantyshot in the whole series. Smile for us, Furuichi!

Sorry not sorry

Toujo: Yeah! You two are really close and this is very nice, I approve. Can we fight now?
Lamia: Why Furuichi likes Oga more than me that’s totally unfair I don’t like it ARGH!
Miki: ARE YOU KIDDING ME WHY OGA WHY I THOUGHT WHAT WE HAD WAS SPECIAL WHY YOU CHOSE FURUICHI OVER ME LOOK HOW STRONG AND HOT I BECAME FOR YOU WHY JUST WHY
Himekawa/Kanzaki: Bullshit, there’s nothing special about it WHAT WE HAVE IS WAY MORE SPECIAL NENE DON’T YOU SEE ARE YOU BLIND OR SOMETHING.

Beelzebub #176

Excuse me, I am going to take this post and make a wall-hanging out of it.  Because honestly, TAMURA WHAT WERE YOU THINKING.

Shipping in Beelzebub. More awesomeness courtesy of the /a/ thread. Thank you, whoever did this! (open in new tab to see better)

Can I just say that even the fact that Furuichi represents the hetero shippers and Oga represents the yaoi shippers is perfect.  The fact that it ends with them battling in the chapter that is the most vague who won….its fucking perfect.

Thank you, 4chan, for being so hilariously insightful, while not forgetting what Beelzebub is really about.

Summary of the new Beelzebub light novel.

Google Translation:

The third light novel features a large collection of short stories featuring various popular characters!

Toujou, living life through part-time jobs…Himekawa experiences a day in poverty, Kunieda and Lamia bake a cake; this novel is packed with funny stories about the lives of characters outside of Ishiyama!

I took the Google translation and made it readable.  I do not know Japanese, so I apologize in advance for the accuracy of this description.

Personal comments: Trollmura decided to feature Furuichi heavily on the cover despite him not being mentioned in the description.  Either its a marketing ploy or Furuichi has a short story that the mangaka wants to surprise the readers with.

I wonder why Kunieda and Lamia are baking a cake. Haha, like I don’t know the answer to that.  I’m curious because last time I saw the two of them I thought Lamia had a strong dislike of Kunieda (yay for female friendships though!).

kudo96:

New Beelzebub light novel.

This is the third light novel Tamura has done now, in collaboration with SOW.  I think its about time we get at least summaries as to what they’re about.

Its kind of beautiful, actually.  I love how Furuichi’s been thrown into the air, while Oga is struggling to get out of the box.  Baby Beel is looking at Furuichi too.

Everyone looks amazing. But in a small fandom like this one, will we ever know what they’re about?  What if something happens that ties one of these stories with the main plot?  I’m feeling deflated just thinking about it.  Unless I learn Japanese.

This is probably an unpopular opinion but... ›

I don’t really like Lamia or Hilda.

Its totally fine that you don’t like Hilda and Lamia.   I want to reply you with my own thoughts, but I don’t want you to think I’m trying to convince you otherwise.  We all have characters, female or male that we don’t like, and there’s nothing wrong with that.  That said, I really like your post. I don’t agree with all of it, but I really like that you took the time to write it, because not enough people discuss or talk about Beelzebub in my opinion.

@Hilda
It does feel like since the start of this arc Hilda has regressed somewhat.  But it makes sense also, considering this is the first time the Demon King has given them a task to complete.  Hilda’s cold, polarizing personality is back in full swing because the Demon King is still her boss, and he’s someone she’s used to serving (despite her growth in the Amnesia Arc).  She’s been super focused this whole arc, and Furuichi hasn’t been the only one who’s gotten the short end of the stick.  She threatened Oga with her sword, and again in this chapter she warned Oga not to disobey their orders or she’d burn him.  Yes she’s been treating Furuichi badly, but she’s been treating Oga equally “poorly”.

Hilda is one of those characters whom I like despite them having huge personality flaws.  Its just so rare to see a heroine of a shonen manga be strong minded and also be morally ambiguous.  She’s not a mentor figure, not a love interest, nor is she Oga’s follower.  She has her own agenda and she will try to push for it, regardless of what everyone else wants to do.  This is why she motivates the plot so much.  Oga is pretty much a slacker, if it weren’t for Hilda the plot would be very much slice of life.  So that’s why her personality doesn’t irritate me much.  Is she well-liked (in canon) it for it? No, but that’s what makes Beelzebub interesting to me.  That’s what makes her interesting to me.

@Lamia
Actually, Lamia used to be Hilda’s fangirl, but since she and Furuichi teamed up to find En she’s become totally tsundere for him.  The video game arc did a lot for her character because she was forced outside her comfort zone, and had to interact with people she didn’t know.  I know she doesn’t do much except occasionally treat people’s wounds, but I also think you’re missing out the tiny moments she’s shown to have a total crush on Furuichi.  Just look at the most recent colorspread, she can’t keep her eyes off him.  When she yells at him, its ‘cause he isn’t paying attention to her.  Lamia is a tsundere because she can’t express how she really feels, so instead she is bratty and yells at him.  I kind of find it endearing, though I doubt they’ll end up together.

@Furuichi
I am also a Furuichi fangirl, and an equally shameless Ogafuru fangirl.  Its great to meet another fan on the internet who loves him.  Don’t worry, nothing is going to kill him off.  Not only is he loved by fandom, Furuichi is one of the author’s favorite characters (along with Oga and Beel) and is the one the author identifies with the most.  Furuichi may be a gag character, but he’s done a lot more than most readers will give him credit for.  He united the Ishiyama gang, for one thing, and he pretty much is the “heart” of the series.  When you look at all the subtle but helpful things he does in Beelzebub, Furuichi becomes quite the important character!

Our Victory March.

Loving it. <3

Oh Tamura, you just made my day.  Aoi, Furuichi and Oga standing right next to each other?! Best everrrr.  And even Lamia is looking at Furuichi, she’s not even attempting to hide her feelings for him.

The whole colorspread was pretty cool.  Beel as usual is looking like a boss, painting some graffiti like he’s Michelangelo. Hilda looks AMAZING, and honestly I always thought her wardrobe would look more like this.  Himekawa and Kanzaki are both wearing colored shades,…take that as you will.  The two of them looked real slick!  Oga is Oga. I question Furuichi’s dress sense, but its always hilarious to see him trying too hard.  Aoi looks very sophisticated, I love women in suits too.

But the way Tamura positioned them is very much to my liking. /trolls

I stopped looking at the raws afterwards because ugh, I really didn’t want to spoil myself.

Oh~~Furuichi XD

Beelzebub chapter 158

Furuichi, you are such a boss.  I love Oga’s expression.  Lamia isn’t sure whether to be disappointed or interested, poor girl.

Best chapter in a while.  Absurd comedy to the max.  But I could have done without the Oga/Toujou subtext. xD
